Executive Summary

During Q4 2018, 1888 teleconsultations were conducted across all sites in South-Central Asia and East Africa (Kenya), as compared to 1954 teleconsultations in Q4 2017, resulting in a 3% decrease in activities. Quarter 4, 2018 marked the end of the no-cost extension of the Central Asia Health Systems Strengthening (CAHSS) Project.

Even though eLearning activities were not supported by the no-cost extension under the Central Asia Health Systems Strengthening Project, AKDN health agencies in South-Central Asia were able to absorb operational costs and a 42% increase was experienced in eLearning participants. Overall, there was a dramatic increase in the number of health care professionals trained in South-Central Asia and East Africa (Kenya) - from 759 in Q4 2017 to 1079 in Q4 2018. The increase was mainly due to expansion of digital health services in Kenya as well as notable increases in Afghanistan, Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan.
